With Each Look

Lower Slopes' opening exhibition serves as an introduction and an invitation.

Bringing together many of the artists we'll be presenting in our upcoming programme, it is a statement of intent and a proposition to the viewer: look again for a deeper encounter.

While impactful at first glance, the works on display do not reveal themselves fully. They reward further attention: a closer look, a shift in perspective, a peek inside.

As we move through the exhibition, our gaze is unsettled. At times we assume the role of voyeur, while the subjects are distracted or have their backs turned; at others, we feel stared down, as if the works are watching us.
