Deborah Elstein

Deborah Elstein is a London-based artist whose practice is driven by instinct, memory and the exploration of themes of hope. After a thirty-year hiatus, she returned to painting to honour her late mother’s wish that she embrace her creative side.

Her paintings present as naive and direct, but the surface-level simplicity of the work belies its emotional impact.

Pushing the limits of her palette while embracing its constraints is central to her creative process.

Elstein’s work will be included in WITH EACH LOOK, Lower Slopes’ inaugural exhibition, in Islington, 23 October–1 November 2026. Elstein’s work will also be presented at the Highgate gallery in October 2027.
