Marice Cumber
Marice Cumber is a British artist whose practice explores the self and identity.
Her works are physical, built responses to the emotions, lived experience and complexities of her life, and a testament to how she has navigated them.
Central to Cumber’s ceramics are reaffirming personal messages and statements drawn from her diaries and notebooks.
Her current work explores her Jewish identity, family, intergenerational trauma and belonging, while her entire practice is underpinned by a constant awareness of being an outsider to the mainstream.
Cumber’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections.
Cumber’s work will be included in WITH EACH LOOK, Lower Slopes’ inaugural exhibition, in Islington, 23 October–1 November 2026. Her work will also be presented at the Highgate gallery from 17 June–9 July 2027.
