Nilla Vera

Nilla Vera is a Polish-Swedish oil painter whose work treats the nude body and recurring animal forms as structural, unselfconscious elements through which spatial and psychological tensions are explored. Set within hazy, dreamlike domestic interiors that function as psychological containers, her imagery avoids narrative in favour of a quiet, suspended state of perception.

Informed by phenomenology and post-war figuration, Vera uses repetition and structural restraint to create intimate, unspectacular moments where conscious thought gives way to the subconscious.

Vera studied oil painting at Istituto Lorenzo de' Medici from 2018 to 2020, followed by architecture at Accademia Italiana from 2020 to 2024.

Vera's work will be included in WITH EACH LOOK, Lower Slopes’ inaugural exhibition, in Islington, 23 October–1 November 2026. Her work will also be presented at the Highgate gallery 17 June–9 July 2027.
